The Dutch Housing Corporation Elkien launches the KIEN Water & Energy Challenge . The ambition of  Elkien is to have their complete building stocks overall energy neutral in 2030. Therefore, in the upcoming years Elkien will invest EUR 300 million in their buildings in order to achieve this ambition.
However, heated water is still a weak link in becoming energy neutral. Therefore, Elkien is looking for new and innovative technologies and technological concepts that are aiming at energy-efficient and/or energy-neutral domestic heated water supply.
Winners of the KIEN Water & Energy Challenge will be invited to develop, test and/or demonstrate their technology or technological concept in Kien City lab located in Tolhuizen (Municipality of Leeuwarden, The Netherlands). In Kien City lab Elkien will invest in the development of 26 houses , where these new and innovative technologies will be applied and be used by residents as a pilot. If the pilot is successful, the technology can be selected for application in the full building stock of Elkien, currently existing of ca. 20.000 houses.
The deadline for submission is April 27th 2017 at 12:00 CET . Please visit the website https://www.kiencitylab.nl/warm-water-challenge for more information.
